Wi-Fi or Bluetooth?

July 17, 2021 in New Features

Remote Mouse now supports a new, more resilient way of connecting computers – Bluetooth. This new option is especially useful when Wifi signals are poor and cause latency, or when Wifi is not available. While Wifi remains our top recommendation for its stability, hardware compatibility, and broad signal coverage, Bluetooth provides a reliable alternative in these challenging circumstances.

Please note that there are hardware requirements for computers to connect via Bluetooth.

Windows users must have Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) or later, and your PC must have built-in Bluetooth. If an external Bluetooth (a USB Bluetooth dongle) is used, only the model BT851 by Laird is supported. Most Mac computers, excluding some older models, support Bluetooth connection without issue.

For the best experience, make sure that both the desktop and mobile versions of Remote Mouse are up to date and take advantage of the latest Advanced Connectivity feature.

Specialty Control Panels for Enhanced Efficiency

Tap an icon to show a panel, and tap it again to hide it

Controlling your computer with a virtual remote can be a hassle when compared to using a mouse and keyboard. This is where Remote Mouse’s specialty control panels come in – to provide users with quick and convenient access to certain actions on small screens.

The panel control bar is designed to be slidable, which enables each icon to better match the size of your fingertips. This makes it easier to perform actions with a single tap, such as shutting down your computer. In addition, there is more room for adding new panels in the future.

With the latest version of Remote Mouse, you can rearrange the specialty panels and customize your interface to your liking. This allows you to create a more efficient workspace that suits your individual needs.

Keyboard Shortcuts

In additional to the alphabetical keyboard, Remote Mouse offers a shortcut bar and a numeric-function keypad to simplify your computer control experience. We have included some GIFs below to demonstrate how they work.

The Shortcut Bar

The Shortcut Bar can be used simultaneously with other keyboards and specialty panels, and will display corresponding keys depending on the connected computer’s operating system (Windows or Mac).

The three keys on the right provide quick controls, while the four keys on the left are modifiers that can be used along with either the English keyboard or the numeric-function keypad to send shortcuts.

Shortcuts

Due to the limited screen size, each key in a shortcut key combination must be entered individually, as opposed to using a physical keyboard.
